Agency Abdication & Erasure

Agency is erased when a person’s capacity to decide, act or refuse is restricted, overridden or made immaterial. It is abdicated when the actor best placed to exercise meaningful choice withdraws or refuses to do so, displacing decisions and their consequences while institutional power remains intact.
